Our Mission Is To Provide FUNDING for SCHOLARSHIPS & COLLEGE READINESS Programs, Enabling Students To Pursue Their Dreams Of Higher Education.

The college completion gap for African American students is at an all-time high. Without early access and college readiness programming, African American, First Generation College Students and their communities are potentially impacted financially over time with a wealth gap. According to research conducted by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, African Americans with a bachelor's degree earn nearly 40% more than those with only a high school diploma.

The Village Foundation Fund provides funding for college readiness programs and scholarships for students to pursue post-secondary education. We pursue long-term collaborations with students, their parents, schools and community organizations.

Your support will provide an immediate impact for students to receive tutoring, books, college readiness programs, and college scholarships.

Meet The Founder, Kamilah J. Perkins

“It takes a village to raise a child, but it takes education and economics to raise the village”, is our motto.

The first part of our motto comes from an African proverb and the latter half is the harsh reality confronting many students of color and under-served communities across the country that lack needed resources to address their academic needs. Students are on average 5- 12 months behind academically since Spring of 2021 and the gap leans toward the latter for Black, Hispanic and families making less than $25,000 annually.

We aim to address the need for academic preparation for college and economic awareness for life. With the help of many, we will address

  • The need for tutoring to close the Academic Gaps.

  • The need for College & Career Preparation to close College Completions Gaps.

  • The need for youth to be Financially Literate in K-12 education

Please partner with us to meet these needs and prepare a stronger foundation for students to excel.

The Village Foundation Fund is a non profit organization founded by Kamilah J. Perkins, an educator and advocate for equity in education. For the past 20 years Kamilah has been devoted to Education, College Prep and Youth Development work. This has been her life’s purpose and passion, helping students realize their purpose and present them with opportunities to reach their goals. In recent years, Kamilah realized the challenges of finding a tutor for her son during the pandemic. This journey revealed the challenges a number of students will face without academic support as we transition out of the pandemic and into the reality that academic gaps have increased. Academic Recovery is needed now more than ever for all students, especially to prepare students for college and careers. The mission of the Village Foundation Fund is to address academic gaps, college graduation gaps and college readiness for K-12 students by providing funding for scholarships, programming and grants.
